One of the most overlooked leadership skills today is leadership energy management. And I don’t mean wellness programs, meditation apps, or asking people to take more vacation. I mean understanding something much more fundamental
Sustaining energy at work
As a leader, the energy you bring into the room is rarely neutral. It is contagious.
Whether you intend it or not, your team borrows your energy. If you walk into a meeting rushed, distracted, or visibly frustrated, that emotional tone spreads almost instantly. People tighten up. They speak less freely. Momentum slows. That is not because people are fragile. It is because humans are wired to read the emotional cues of the person with authority.
This is why leadership energy management is not a “nice to have.” It is part of the job.
Why time management alone isn’t enough
Too often, leaders focus exclusively on time. How many hours people are working. How full calendars are. How busy everyone seems. But time management alone does not explain why two teams with similar workloads can feel completely different to work in. Energy does.
Energy affects focus. It affects trust. It affects whether people feel safe enough to speak up, challenge ideas, or admit when something is not working. And when energy is depleted or unmanaged, performance quietly erodes, even when people are working hard.
What this new video series will focus on
In this new video series, I am going to talk about what it actually takes to sustain energy at work, starting with leadership energy management. Not in abstract terms, and not through theory, but through practical, real-world leadership actions you can use immediately with your team.
Each video will focus on one clear strategy. One leadership move you can put into practice right away. Some will challenge common habits. Others will help you rethink how you show up day to day. All of them are designed to help you sustain energy, momentum, and performance over time, without burning yourself or your team out.
So here’s your call to action. Hit subscribe, follow along, and share this series with colleagues who could benefit from it. And I’d also love to hear from you: where are you noticing energy drain, or momentum loss, on your team right now? What’s been hardest to sustain? Add your thoughts in the comments below so we can learn from one another, and so I can shape future videos around the real challenges you’re facing.
